Reducing Teacher Workload Events Summer 2019

The Department for Education, in collaboration with school leaders and teachers across the country, is holding two national events to showcase work that is currently being done in schools to effectively reduce teacher workload. This work is based on updates to the well-received DfE ‘Workload Reduction Toolkit’ which were published on 15 March this year. Each event will start with a presentation from Sean Harford, National Director, Education, Ofsted, speaking on school workload and the Education Inspection Framework 2019 and other key note speeches including from Ben Levinson, Headteacher of Kensington Primary School on workload and school culture. These will be followed by the opportunity to participate in workshops run by serving teachers and leaders linked to their work on workload reduction and the toolkit. There will also be the opportunity to hear an update from the Department for Education.
Who are these events for?
Members of senior leadership teams from all types of schools are encouraged to attend and to invite the Chair/a member of their governing board due to the strategic link between workload and recruitment and retention. There will be a specific workshop for governors. You are all welcome as the day will be interactive with opportunities to learn new approaches, discuss strategies and share your work.

London - Friday 17 May
Manchester – Thursday 23 May
Both events start with registration at 10am for a 10:30 start, finishing at 3:30pm
