This session will introduce the most significant global trade regulatory developments and discuss how companies can successfully navigate the future of trade, even during a time of continued uncertainty.

Technology and Innovation in Global Trade
Whereas the move to electronic declarations was revolutionary a decade ago, we have now entered into a new age of innovation in global trade.  Trade analytics drive informed decisions and help to improve cost effective sourcing. Innovative technologies, such as robotics, machine learning, AI, and blockchain technology can further improve trade compliance and drive down cost.  In this session we will consider the role of technology and innovation in managing global trade effectively. We will also highlight topical points of attention for companies migrating from SAP ECC to S4Hana, including key changes in relation to trade functionality.

Around the world with indirect taxes
In this session EY subject matter professionals from Australia, the GCC, Malaysia and the USA will give an update on any legislation changes and the introduction of VAT/consumption based tax in their respective countries.
The legislative updates will be followed by round table discussions focusing on single countries, allowing participants to gain deeper insights and address more detailed questions on the countries that interest them the most.

The current trade climate leads to controversy and changes in managing the trade function
Global Trade matters has reached an unprecedented height of attention on the corporate agenda, directly linked to the introduction of trade sanctions, Brexit, trade wars and changes in trade alliances. At the same timer, customs authorities have invested in new techniques to improve their risk assessments using data analytics, putting trade compliance firmly in the spotlight. There is also a growing relevance of trusted trader program, forcing business to improve trade compliance to maintain competitiveness. Senior management are becoming aware of the impact of trade matters on corporate performance and risk and the need for increased capability and capacity to deal with these disruptive forces and to seize the upside of innovation. Priorities include new and changing free trade agreements, compliance pressures around master data, export control, sanctions, technology investments etc.
In this workshop we will discuss these priorities and how companies can manage them effectively, considering the role that technology and outsourcing can play in meeting these objectives.
